Improved packaging method and device. Technical field
The invention belongs to the technical field of the packaging of stacked compressible products in a stable manner, in particular the packaging of disposable absorbent articles such as diapers, which are used in e.g. open cartons can be prepackaged that are stacked on a pallet.
Background
Consumer items such as baby diaper bags are often packed in tray cartons, stacked on pallets, fitted with edge protectors and packed with a stretch film.
For example, WO 1996/041753 Al discloses a package consisting of a series of at least two substantially rectangular flexible suits.
However, the prior art packages require large amounts of stretch film, they require the use of expensive edge protectors and often do not have sufficient stability, often at the expense of transport safety and logistical handling. The use of inexpensive repackaging materials such as tray cartons or so-called shelf-ready packaging cartons that typically feature recovery openings show various drawbacks.
There remains a need in the art for an improved packaging method and apparatus to solve at least some of the aforementioned problems.
The invention therefore seeks to provide a package that improves the stability of the packages (e.g. baby diaper cartons on pallets) at the same time significantly reducing the need for stretch film and edge protectors.
Summary of the invention
The present invention provides a method for stabilizing a stack of products, preferably pre-packaged units consisting of individual stacked products, in particular products such as absorbent articles, such as those further specified in any of claims 1 to 9.
By the term "prepackaged" as used herein, it is meant that one or more absorbent articles are packaged in a single unit before being stacked.
By the term "packaging material" as used herein is meant a bendable material, preferably a sheet material whose thickness is smaller, more preferably much smaller, than its width or length, such as a sheet, a film or a film. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the above-mentioned packaging material can be rolled up.
In a preferred embodiment, the aforementioned banderole of the aforementioned first material consists of a width that is less than or greater than the width of the aforementioned banderole of the aforementioned second material. In an alternative embodiment, the aforementioned banderole of the above-mentioned first material consists of a width equal to a width of the above-mentioned banderole of the above-mentioned second material.
By the term "banderole" or "sleeve" as used herein is meant a sheet material of substantially constant width that can be rolled or rolled in a direction perpendicular to the width direction.
In one embodiment, the above-mentioned second material is different from the above-mentioned first packaging material. In another embodiment, the above-mentioned second material is the same as the above-mentioned first packaging material. Preferably, the above-mentioned second material is wrapped around the above-mentioned stack with a tension different from a tension of the first material with which the stack is packaged. In one embodiment, the above-mentioned first material is a conventional packaging material, such as polyethylene, and / or the above-mentioned second material consists of paper.
In a preferred embodiment, the first and / or second material is substantially free of a self-adhesive component such as glue or tape.
As an example, the units may consist of absorbent articles, or such as pre-packaged set of absorbent articles.
In one embodiment, three or more packaging materials are used, such as 3, 4, 5, 6 or more materials. These materials can consist of the first or second packaging material, and / or these materials can consist of packaging materials with physical properties that are different from the first and / or second packaging material. These materials can consist of different materials than the first and second packaging materials.
In one embodiment, the above-mentioned stack is packaged in the above-mentioned first material by turning x and the above-mentioned stack is packaged in the above-mentioned second material by turning y. Here, preferably x is at least one, more preferably at least two, and less than 50, more preferably less than 25. Preferably, y is at least one, more preferably at least two, and less than 50, more preferably less than 25. In In a preferred embodiment, x and y can be independently determined to increase the stability of the stack.
By the term "twist" as used herein, it is meant that a material is wrapped around the stack over a peripheral side surface consisting essentially of one circumference. In particular, if the width of the packaging material is smaller than the height of the stack, more than one turn is needed to cover the entire peripheral side surface with at least one layer of packaging material.
In a second aspect, the present invention provides an apparatus for packaging and stabilizing a stack of products, preferably pre-packaged units, as further specified in a, y from claims 10 to 13.
In a further aspect, the present invention provides a stack consisting of products, preferably pre-packaged units according to any of the claims 14 or 15.
By the term "edge side surface of the above products or prepackaged units" as used herein is meant the side surface of the products or the units that, when stacked, make up the edge surface of the stack, ie the surface of the stack that is from the side can be seen.
In one embodiment, the above-mentioned stack is in the form of a parallelepiped, a jet, a prism or a cylinder. In one embodiment, the aforementioned stack consists of a pallet on which the aforementioned prepackaged units are stacked.
In preferred embodiments, the aforementioned absorbent articles consist of disposable sanitary products, such as diapers, baby diapers, incontinence diapers, pull-on diaper pants.

"Consist of", "consisting of" and "consists of" and "consists of" as used herein are synonymous with "include", "including", "includes" or "contains", "contain", "contain" and are inclusive or open terms that specify the presence of what follows eg a component and do not close or prevent the presence of additional, non-recited components, properties, element, members, steps known in the art.
The invention provides an apparatus and method for stabilizing stacked products using two different materials, preferably provided as a banderole or sleeves.
These materials can consist of very different physical properties. To stabilize a load of this kind, it is common to package a pallet of stacked units with a film 6. This film is wound on roll 2 and can be unwound as it is wrapped around the stack. A typical width of the film is 500 mm. This can be done using the functionality of the turntable stretch winding machines or the rotary arm or ring stretch winding machines.
As this usual method of load securing, a banderole / sleeve of a rolled sheet of film 6 of film roll 2 is common, showing a high degree of elasticity and high resilience.
The object of the present invention is to stabilize stack 5, wherein the individually stacked units or products show a low degree of resistance to deformation, with a highly resilient stretch film, without significantly deforming units.
A further object of the invention is to provide a way to secure cargo, thereby preventing the detachment of individual products from the assembly and their breakthrough of cargo security.
A further object of the invention is to provide charge security thereby preventing individual units or products from losing their height due to their compressibility.
The invention is further described by the following non-limiting examples that further illustrate the invention, and are not intended, nor should they be construed, to limit the scope of the invention.
EXAMPLES
The invention is illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2, which shows a roll 1 of the first material of a draw belt roll / sleeve, a roll 2 of a second material of a conventional packaging film, a turntable 3 of a conventional packaging machine, a support arm 4 for supporting roll 1 of the first material and roll 2 of the second material, a stack 5 of products or pre-packaged units of products on a pallet, the width 6 of the conventional delivery 7 of the second banderole to the package and the width 8 of banderole of the second material.
According to the invention, a second material is provided as a banderole or sleeve that can be unrolled from a roll 2 of a packaging device.
According to the invention, the width of second banderole / sleeve 8 is wide enough to enclose a specific layer of products or prepackaged units of products, or several product layers or unit layers at the same time.
According to the invention, a more stretchable material (e.g., kraft paper) is wound on a second roll 2. The material is then attached to the pallet over a feed means of transport 7. The material is then clamped between the material and the package. The rotation of turntable 3, the rotating arm, or the ring causes material 8 to be taken along. After a randomly determined cover count, the turntable 3, the rotating arm or the ring stops. Material 8 can then be cut manually or in an automated manner.
Due to the high tensile strength of the second winding material / sleeve material, the pallet develops an increased resistance to lateral load such as that which occurs due to inertia forces in transport.
It is believed that the present invention is not limited to any previously described form of realization and that some changes may be added to the proposed example of manufacture without revaluing the appended claims.
